Wheelchair Dog

We didn't know what we were getting when we brought Serendipity home. She was just a ball of black fuzz with a brown mask on her little face and very large brown paws. That's why we named her "Serendipity," a "happy surprise."

Those big paws grew faster than the rest of her. Within a few weeks, they were big brown paws attached to big brown legs, quite out of proportion to the rest of the pup. Because of the fluffy coat and curled ears, we were thinking perhaps a Chow Chow mix? Then she sprouted a snout, and by golly, we had a little shepherd. Serendipity.

And still those paws grew. David was the first with the idea of a service dog. I was using the wheelchair a lot, which tore up my shoulders and arms. Why not train our own wheelchair motor? The instructor at her obedience class agreed, so Seri started down the road to her career.
